Montgenevre

Situated on the border between France and Italy and at an altitude of 1860m it is not only one of the oldest ski resorts in France but also one of the highest. You can fly to Turin - its preferable - but there are alternatives.

A beautiful village resort which has seen quite a lot of development over the last few years - new apartment buildings in the obelisk hamlet, a new tourist office, a new “espace commercial “ housing the ski schools, lift pass sales and a crèche. A tunnel under the resort means the busy through road has now reverted back to a quiet main street as any through traffic by passes the resort completely.

The ski area in Montgenevre is a great ski area on it’s own and you can get passes just for this area. If you like to add up the KM whilst you are skiing you may prefer to buy a Mont de La Lune pass which includes the neighbouring Italian resorts of Claviere and Cesana or go for the whole Milky Way pass which gives access to over 400 km of skiing including Sestriere and Sauze D’Oulx and hosted the 2006 winter Olympics. The lift passes use the keycard system.
